Timothy Chiu

Research Assistant, Dry Lab

Timothy is an undergraduate student at Northwestern University studying Biology and English Literature with a minor in Psychology. He’s been continually involved in research centered on supporting fathers in the perinatal, such as through the PRAMS for Dads and CHAMPION Fathers projects with the Family & Child Health Innovations Program. He joined the Connections Study in winter of 2026 and enjoys reading, volunteering at local schools, and finding new bakeries around Chicago in his free time. 

Shaili Das

Research Assistant, Wet Lab

Shaili is a current third-year undergraduate student at Northwestern University studying Biological Sciences and Psychology. She supports wet lab operations through regular maintenance tasks and processing of blood samples for the Connections and Every Dollar Counts studies. She has an interest in public health with a focus on healthcare inequities and trauma-informed care, and has previously supported research regarding the effect of chronic stress on community violence intervention workers. In her free time, Shaili enjoys exploring new cuisines, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.

Veronica Huang

Research Assistant, Wet Lab

Veronica is a current third-year undergraduate student at Northwestern University studying Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Molecular Biology. She’s passionate about medicine and has been continuously involved in clinical and wet lab research supporting vulnerable populations such as refugees, asylum seekers, and domestic violence victims through programs like Health Frontiers at Tijuana Clinic. During her free time, she likes to cook, snowboard, travel, and hang out with friends and family.

Marcos Chavez

Research Assistant, Dry Lab

Marcos is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Northwestern University studying Psychology and Biological Sciences. He is passionate about the social determinants of housing insecurity and its impact on physical and mental health. He currently volunteers with the Health Team at Housing Connections in Evanston. During his free time, he enjoys watching movies, running, playing soccer, and learning about coffee.
